“Rock On” is the message of this song and the boys of Sub Zero hand it out with authority. It’s delivered to you on a slick, sonic canvas that kicks you right in the mouth from the first note. The band is serious and it is time to get out of their way.
The group, as a whole, is proficient and executes the delivery of the song well. The background vocals and guitar playing carry the message forward capturing the 70's punk vibe and mix it with a nice dose of heavy rock, bringing the song into the more modern sounding punk rock, of today. The lyrics are very movement oriented and the singer conveys them with a steadfast delivery, which keeps the listener motivated to follow along.
The guitars rip and are ripe with disdain. The bass playing is solid and EQ'd in the mix flawlessly. It tears through the song like a subway car, heading towards downtown NYC to meet up with Sid Vicious and Dee Dee Ramone for a night of excessive punk rock debauchery.
The drumming is locked in, with some powerful kick and tom work, very much reminiscent of Paul Cook's renowned rhythms that laid the foundation for the works of the legendary Sex Pistols catalog.
Within this two minutes of fury, Sub Zero demands you to set your mind free and be yourself - I'll second that motion and here's to hoping everyone else will listen and do the same! We can all just "Rock On" together
