Michael Hansson and Nadia Iakovidou return - with yet another outstanding song!
This tandem works well together again as Nadia adds her soulful voice to yet another Michael Hansson signature creation. I was hoping I would get to hear another song by these two and I am glad I have.
"Try My Best" is a little riskier this time around adding reggae styled guitar to electronic beats but... it works!
The song is very well written and produced and opens up with a great piano line to ease you into the groove of the song. Michael's great guitar playing is omnipresent and felt throughout and I particularly loved the bass line that creates the backbone to the track and drives it straight into your pop accessorized iPod.
I can feel a genuine amount of heart and soul in Nadia's vocal performance, which helps to make this song feel very California to me (maybe I am bit biased since I live here!). But, I could see this getting some airtime down on Venice Beach or on a television show set at the Santa Monica promenade.
The lyrics are confidently written and bring you to that place of positive optimism, which for me, is always a wonderful place for a song in this era of music to go.
As a listener, I am extremely impressed with the diversity from the first song I reviewed, to this one. Once again, no matter the style, Michael Hansson has again made the song his own. I love the duo and I hope that continue to make records together for years to come, I cannot wait to hear what chart topping hit that have up their sleeves next!
