Well crafted and produced, there is definitely originality to Marianne's work. It is very folk, ethereal and mesmerizing.
The lyrics to "Not In My Eyes" are haunting, well written and serve a distinct purpose as the framework for the song. Whether you feel worthless, useless or play the role of the outcast...this will never be her vision of you.
Walking down a path seldom traveled these days, the words are ones that hopefully will inspire others to see the soul of a person and not just the aesthetic beauty, we are so accustomed to judging people upon.
The song, as a whole, is haunting and powerful. The woodwind instruments and keyboards are layered magically to seamlessly integrate with the guitar playing and melody lines. The arrangement is simple, yet complex which only lends to the beauty of the writing which is quite impressive.
Although Marianne is just getting her music career rolling, I applaud her message and her honesty. She uses music as a way to emphasize the more important things in life which are just as valuable as the hot commodities in the never ending pop machine. She may be able to build up a nice following of people that can derive inspiration from her work.
I for one, thank you for the reminder and hopefully you can keep creating poetic music that will continue to get the world as a whole to remember the most meaningful things in life.
