Everyone once in a while a band comes across my desk that is a killer, I mean a flat out killer. It is not often, but it does happen and with LOVE HATE REBELLION it has happened again.
I was more then pleasantly surprised to hit play on the monster of a track "Sweet Orchid" and it blew me away! These guys absolutely put the foot on the gas paddle and do not let up.
Serving up a delirious and delicious cocktail of some serious groove and kick your ass Rock 'N’ Roll, this band is impressive in every aspect of the word. From the crushing (but soulful) guitar playing, the infectious lock of the bass and drums to the perfectly laid vocal lines of James Trevor Sky. It is simply great! I love the lyrics, the hook, the background vocals, the passion... I am really trying to find something that isn't spot on, but to tell you truth, I can't! This is just flat out awesome!
I feel like I am listening to a phenomenal mix of Soundgarden, Sparta and Clutch (and that is some serious big time Rock in my book).
If you’re lucky enough to come across them on your own, you'll know what I am talking about. If you have not found them yet, please do yourself a favor and check it out. These guys from down under are onto something and I am glad to have had the opportunity to hear it nonetheless review it.
I anxiously await a full album release from them and expect big things in the future for this group. Long live LOVE HATE REBELLION!! Keep doing what you’re doing as it downright destroys!

Well, it's becoming more and more pleasurable to come to work each day. Another great up and coming band has graced me with their presence for a review. I am pleased to tell you there is new sheriff in town and the name is Dramawood. These guys deliver a brisk slap in the face of some serious Rock!
I am really digging the single "Cheeky Business" right out of the gates. The overall vibe I get from the song is one full of chunk, grit and some real street credible music.
I love the way they mix the distinct guitar stylings of Stone Gossard with the aggressiveness and punch of Seether. This is very evident in the hook of the song as it opens up and bleeds with a droning and tasteful guitar line that could have easily found its way onto the epic Pearl Jam album 'Ten'.
The bass player and drummer are locked from the word go! They paint a great canvas for the singer to deliver the lyrics and vocals, which he does with a huge amount of passion and feel. His voice is excellent and a perfect fight for this musical collaboration.
The band is the real deal as their music makes one feel exactly what they are trying to portray and that is no easy task. I commend them on the overall job done on the song. Keep writing and performing your music with the passion of "Cheeky Business" and we'll likely be seeing you on the opening slot for a major act soon enough! To be honest with you, I am very much looking forward to it!

The Dirty Love's pulse pounding "Radio Revolution" seems like a Rock N’ Roll anthem birthed in the 70's that has finally found its way home into the new millennium. These guys bring a ferocious amount of blood, sweat and tears to a genre of music that absolutely demands it!
With driving guitars, dirty rhythms and more attitude then a hornets’ nest, don't be surprised if you find yourself granting singer Ronnie Del Mon's request for you to "Get up and dance to his Rock N’ Roll".
After a few spins of this track, you'll feel like you just spent the night drinking with Alice Cooper, AC/DC and Social Distortion - and to me, that is a good thing!
No doubt about the talent - "Radio Revolution" is a great showcase and strong effort all the way around for the boys. If they can keep writing songs like this, the world just might start giving them that revolution they have been looking for.

I am not sure how he did it, but acoustic artist Frank Sultana has somehow channeled Bob Dylan and Tom Petty and created a great piece of vintage art through representation.
From the harmonica playing, down to the immense production values on the room mic'd drums, I am blown away at how his song “Put A Label On Me” instantly transforms me back to the great musical climate of the 60's and 70's. Whether this song conjures up images of playing on the front porch or on the street corner of New York City - no one can take away Frank's uncanny ability to make you feel that desire to stop and listen to what he is saying.
"Put A Label On Me" is well written musically and lyrically and the shifting tempos throughout the song is another characteristic of the remarkable production. The female backing vocals are excellent and compliment the choruses and the lead vocal as well. All in all, Frank Sultana hits a home run right onto Bleecker Street. Thanks for taking us back to the day!

Here I find myself stuck between the murky waters of Southern Rock and the ferocious flames of some serious ass kicking Metal - and you know what? I like it!
Stongwater does a tremendous job of meshing the two genres together for the stomp it down to the bricks rocker "Behemoth". I can feel the heavy influences of Black Label Society and Black Sabbath, as well as a touch of Kyuss in the attack of the song.
What pushes this band over the edge for me is the impenetrable raspy voice of lead singer Espen Dahle. His voice is dark, hard and epitomizes the standard of Metal greatness that Lemmy from Motor Head set back in the 70's and 80's. The imperfections are the perfections.
The band is excellent and compliments the vocals with ripping guitar and bass attack as well as some top notch drumming that is executed perfectly using the entire kit with great snare, tom and double bass work. Strongwater have a clear winner here in band and song and are poised to be the "Behemoth".

NXTRDAY are on a mission to "Rock The Planet" and change the world - and they want you along for the ride!
We all might very well be inclined to go with them if this four piece can keep bringing a solid mix of Hard Rock & Punk our way.
The guitars and bass octaves drive this roller coaster straight through your living room wall until the boys really kick it into drive with a powerful scream. I instantly thought; let's get on the Judas Priest train ride! But I was wrong - the vocals are raw and cool reminding me more of a sick mix between Dave Mustaine and Alice Cooper.
The music grinds and is tight, the players are dead on the mark, the mega phone is loud and the message is clear - rock the planet, change the world and I wouldn't want to meet up with them in an alley if they were having a bad day (they are drop dead serious).
As they continue to try and revolutionize the world we live in, there is a very cool styling of heavy punk here that I really enjoyed. Keep the message and music coming guys and we'll be right behind you!

Major Label reps take notice! Luminous Rat is about to tear apart the pop radio charts! "Liquid Dreams" is layered in gorgeous melodies and harmonies alongside great production and wonderful songwriting that should catch the ear of anyone smart enough to take a listen.
Julian's voice is one sent from the heavens to rightfully take its place next to the other great indie pop singers of our time. The texture and warmth of his voice is intoxicating as are the guitar lines that merge the song and listener to both experience the haunting pain of memories past and memories to be gained.
The band is superior and the guitars are perfectly played - from the acoustics that carry the song to the sentimental solo in the outro that could easily be placed into any great guitar players tablature book.
Simply put, this band is poised to take off. This is a pro song, from a pro band and this writer hopes Luminous Rat have more than their liquid dreams become reality. Keep up the great work!

Armed with influences such as Rush, The Who and Metallica, the overall sound of ZONER is layered and complex.
The band seamlessly combines the nuances of the 70's progressive rock era with the thunder and lightning of the early 80's thrash movement.
Upon the first listen one would think ZONER is made up of a squad of seasoned musicians who have honed their craft over many years, but...this is where the real twist comes in. All instruments played on the record including guitars, bass, keyboards, vocals and drums are played by one very talented individual. This one man gang is masterminded by Andonis, whose skill on five instruments could supersede the skill of most people on one.
Upon the opening riff of "Occupo Dies", I was excepting a song in the vein of Megadeath, but I was quickly taken on a 5 minute thrill ride that took me through generations of sounds in which every instrument is played with authority! The guitars are vintage, the bass is thunderous and the drums are solid delivering patterns ranging from half time to full throttle metal beats.
The overall vocal could be compared to a baritone Rob Halford performance off an early Judas Priest record. The keyboards and song structure itself brings to mind the great Tom Scholz who similarly was the guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter, and producer for the legendary act Boston.
Overall, "Occupo Dies" is a great opus to a one man act that is well written, played and produced.
One can only wonder if Andonis could bring this show on the road, how many people would show up to watch this kind of talent play? I know I would be the first one in line to get my ticket!

Stars in the Sky bring some serious Punk Rock noise!
There is no fluff here - pure anarchy driven lyrics and a group of pissed off punks light up the chorus of "My Own Way" as if they were serenading a drunken group of pub dwellers, during the late 70's British punk scene. This is where real punks come to fray!
3 Chord progressions, larger than life drums and a Mike Dirnt esque bass line lay the foundation for a potent mixture of styles reminiscent of Rancid and Green Day. The sound and production are excellent, which also allows you to pick up on that subtle, Southern California Punk-Skate vibe that seems to be ripping through the background guitars.
All in all, Stars in the Sky do a great job of mixing their influences well and end up creating something very unique. They’ve incorporated the many styles of punk that have graced our speakers throughout the generations. As they would say; "I do what I want" - and I suggest we move the hell over and let them do it their own way!
Keep your eyes peeled for these up and coming punk rockers as they unleash their new album in the very near future.

“Floating (Major Tom)” is exactly as the band name suggests: an experience. A piece that deliberately takes the listener through several different eras of time, starting in the late 60's, crashing into the 70's and finishing up in the alternative indie world of the 80's.
The ethereal acoustic and electric guitars lay a great framework, as does the bass line - it walks all over the song like it has legs. The songwriting is well done and takes the listener down a corridor lined with the bones of Marc Bolan and his haunting ability to make the alternative the mainstream.
One must simply appreciate the time taken to deliver the sonic effects and guitar tones that litter the song, as well as the reoccurring efficiency of the same chorus repeated over and over as if one is floating in an epic David Bowie re-make. The song really comes together at the midway point when the whole band comes alive as the guitar playing becomes increasingly passionate and more intense.
The electric guitar solos flash a dash of Paul Westerberg (which you can never go wrong with) as well as a hint of Brian Jones during the 'Paint It, Black' era.
The 'Alex Snipers Experience' is on the right track in building a very unique product that has the ability to incorporate several generations of music, which may help in creating a longer lasting sustain with the listener. I know I am intrigued to see what they do next!

“Rock On” is the message of this song and the boys of Sub Zero hand it out with authority. It’s delivered to you on a slick, sonic canvas that kicks you right in the mouth from the first note. The band is serious and it is time to get out of their way.
The group, as a whole, is proficient and executes the delivery of the song well. The background vocals and guitar playing carry the message forward capturing the 70's punk vibe and mix it with a nice dose of heavy rock, bringing the song into the more modern sounding punk rock, of today. The lyrics are very movement oriented and the singer conveys them with a steadfast delivery, which keeps the listener motivated to follow along.
The guitars rip and are ripe with disdain. The bass playing is solid and EQ'd in the mix flawlessly. It tears through the song like a subway car, heading towards downtown NYC to meet up with Sid Vicious and Dee Dee Ramone for a night of excessive punk rock debauchery.
The drumming is locked in, with some powerful kick and tom work, very much reminiscent of Paul Cook's renowned rhythms that laid the foundation for the works of the legendary Sex Pistols catalog.
Within this two minutes of fury, Sub Zero demands you to set your mind free and be yourself - I'll second that motion and here's to hoping everyone else will listen and do the same! We can all just "Rock On" together

The song opens with a guitar ring reminiscent of a freight train rolling off the tracks - the plot thickens before the song even begins!
And begin it does!! Thundering drums, bass and guitars lock in unison spitting out nothing but pure fury!
Hostility is the name of the game and All This Filth play it well. Beastly rhythms and slamming guitars carry the song, while lead vocalist Brendan brings nothing but pure aggression to the forefront in the vein of the hardcore great Jamey Jasta.
The drummer is tight and works the double kick well, as he establishes the meter and groove, while the bass player escorts the chaos and lowers the sonic boom. I love the way the lead guitars are played and fall in the mix, they are haunting and eerie which only adds to the intrigue of the song.
The song is skillfully written and delivers its message on cue and the overall sound and production is excellent. There is a nice mixture of death metal and thrash metal created here and in my opinion, "11 Past" could have easily slithered off the greatly renowned Sepultura album, "Roots".
The craftsmanship of the group and the songwriting of Brendan Preston should carry this band forward for a long period of time, consuming many metal fans along the way!

Michael delivers again with a real flair for showing off his true writing abilities through "Wanted". This time around, he has left the vocal duties to the charming voice of Nadia Iakovidou.
At some points of listening to the song, I thought Michael could (or should) be producing Michelle Branch - he really has a winner here that could be easily absorbed into the ever so popular, female fronted pop-radio machine that runs rampant here in Hollywood.
The production is great on this song, as one section builds to the next while the verses remain simple and purely driven by acoustic guitars.
As we reach the pre-chorus, tender pieces of piano begin to surface and everything just falls into place. Flowing right on into the chorus, each instrument melds into one fantastic sounding, adult contemporary smash that continues to grab you throughout the whole song with its prominent melody line.
It’s obvious that Michael and Nadia make an impressive team, as this song is rotation worthy and should receive some attention if the right people can get their hands on it. I would definitely be very inclined to hear more of these two working together in this fashion, as we may possibly be looking at the beginning of a new Glen Ballard and Alanis Morissette duo.
Overall, my thoughts are clear - will someone please get this song on the radio?! Let's see how high it can climb…

Michael Hansson and Nadia Iakovidou return - with yet another outstanding song!
This tandem works well together again as Nadia adds her soulful voice to yet another Michael Hansson signature creation. I was hoping I would get to hear another song by these two and I am glad I have.
"Try My Best" is a little riskier this time around adding reggae styled guitar to electronic beats but... it works!
The song is very well written and produced and opens up with a great piano line to ease you into the groove of the song. Michael's great guitar playing is omnipresent and felt throughout and I particularly loved the bass line that creates the backbone to the track and drives it straight into your pop accessorized iPod.
I can feel a genuine amount of heart and soul in Nadia's vocal performance, which helps to make this song feel very California to me (maybe I am bit biased since I live here!). But, I could see this getting some airtime down on Venice Beach or on a television show set at the Santa Monica promenade.
The lyrics are confidently written and bring you to that place of positive optimism, which for me, is always a wonderful place for a song in this era of music to go.
As a listener, I am extremely impressed with the diversity from the first song I reviewed, to this one. Once again, no matter the style, Michael Hansson has again made the song his own. I love the duo and I hope that continue to make records together for years to come, I cannot wait to hear what chart topping hit that have up their sleeves next!

Michael Hansson is a well crafted songwriter and guitar player who brings an acoustic and pop cross breed to the table with "Air Bubble".
Every song I hear from Michael always leaves me feeling upbeat and positive and "Air Bubble" is no exception.
Comprised of tight guitar playing and an even tighter drum program, there is an interesting melding of electronics and human playing. It allows me to envision a Ryan Adams and Moby collaboration, with styling points in the way the rhythm of the verses are written from The Counting Crows.
I can tell Michael has a great diversity in influences, as it shines through in his music. The lyrics are very well written and seem to steep in American convention. The vocals are strongly executed and the female background harmonies blend beautifully throughout the song.
Well produced, wonderfully played and nicely structured, "Air Bubble" is yet another ode to the talents of Michael Hansson, let they continue to grow on in pop culture's grace.
Here's to hoping Michael Hansson can live out the lyrics and have the Hollywood pop stars lined up for one of his shows!

The softer side of Michael Hansson has been revealed here through “Ana” and it's great to see such range in an artist’s repertoire. Although this song revolves around the possible loss of a great love, Michael is still somehow able to deliver it in a style that is upbeat, which remains consistent throughout his catalog.
Excellent guitar work is always the benchmark for any Michael Hansson piece and "Ana" is no exception. As usual, the acoustic guitar work excels and this time around I really find myself enjoying the lead guitar hook that opens the song as well as some really great fretwork in the closing (although subtle in the mix), that seems to have stuck with me through the day.
The writer delivers his wants and desires passionately, as the lyrics are love driven and follow his journey into a world that centers strictly around "Ana". Not an uncommon theme for a love song, but one that is always effective in getting the message across to the listener.
The production value is a high standard, as always, and I would consider this another notch in the belt of Michael Hansson and his continuous ability to show his various writing styles.
Here's hoping Michael can continue delivering his messages with such heartfelt honesty and that he and “Ana” can somehow kindle an everlasting love.

Michael Hansson delivers again with another upbeat acoustic rock track that as always inspires one to look at the more positive aspects of life.
Armed with a catchy chorus, some authentic layered background vocals and excellent execution all the way around...simplicity is not lost here. It is in the simplicity, which you will find how truly complex and layered the song really is, beginning with a very cool scat beat which gives the song it overall identity.
As they take center stage, the offbeat rhythms and guitar playing are infectious! Moving from the acoustic to the electric to the piano and the organ, this is a fantastic musical effort that could easily fit onto a Ryan Adams record, back in his heyday.
Lyrically, this is the most upbeat song I have come across in his catalog. Michael just seems to be getting better as we move onward and it is always great to hear an artist blossom before your very ears.
His ability to write so many different types of music and yet find a way to make them all his own, is an absolutely strong aspect going forward. "Shake Like I Shake it" is no exception by any means. The lights are indeed on tonight and they are focused squarely on Michael Hansson and the continued rise of his musical career.

Maini Sorri delivers an eloquent ballad that is so professionally played and executed, it’s inspiring.
As "Someday" begins its passage out of the speakers, the pianos and opening samples are hauntingly beautiful and instantly catch your attention. I can easily tell that there was a lot of time and energy composing this song.
Everything melds together cohesively as each layer of the song is unveiled one verse and chorus at a time. The songwriting is highly accomplished, as well is the execution of the melody lines. There are some really alluring harmonies and background vocals reminiscent to the stylings of Sarah McLachlan, which certainly works great in creating an authentic layer of warmth for a song in this genre of music.
The musicianship is as efficient as it gets and the band, as a whole, is fantastic. I especially love the lead guitar playing as well as the string arrangement.
Above all, I believe Maini has a lot of talent on display here. She carries her song wholeheartedly and brings the listener on her journey to where we all may wind up. Here's to hoping that Maini's travels "Someday" take her to wherever it is she wants to go.

Rozz The Bozz serve up an excellent Pop Metal & Alternative Rock hybrid that I can easily see receiving some serious attention and airplay in the very near future. This is very intriguing band with a unique sound that I would highly suggest people take notice of!
They have all the intangibles of leaving a prominent mark on the music business for years to come, if they continue to deliver more sonic gems, as is the case with "Time".
The superstar of this song is the guitar playing and opening metal riff. It reminds me a bit of something that would have reared its head off a Helmet record back in the day. It has a nice, tight Metal feel to it, which sets the song up for some interesting sonic twists and turns.
Overall, the recording and production of “Time” are great, as there was obviously some serious time and effort put into crafting this song. The bass and drum playing are extremely solid, which allows for the flow to seamlessly shift from Metal, to Pop, to Rock and back again.
The keyboards are over the top! I love the way the band weaves them throughout the verses and into the fret work at the back end of the track. In my opinion, this is the real difference maker in setting the band apart from just any other rock act. The melody lines are catchy and are strongly delivered by the front-man.
I love what Rozz The Bozz is doing as a whole and I hope they continue moving forward with it. Keep an ear to the streets for more info about this infectious band! I think they would be a great opening act for the Foo Fighters...Dave Grohl - check these guys out!!

Well crafted and produced, there is definitely originality to Marianne's work. It is very folk, ethereal and mesmerizing.
The lyrics to "Not In My Eyes" are haunting, well written and serve a distinct purpose as the framework for the song. Whether you feel worthless, useless or play the role of the outcast...this will never be her vision of you.
Walking down a path seldom traveled these days, the words are ones that hopefully will inspire others to see the soul of a person and not just the aesthetic beauty, we are so accustomed to judging people upon.
The song, as a whole, is haunting and powerful. The woodwind instruments and keyboards are layered magically to seamlessly integrate with the guitar playing and melody lines. The arrangement is simple, yet complex which only lends to the beauty of the writing which is quite impressive.
Although Marianne is just getting her music career rolling, I applaud her message and her honesty. She uses music as a way to emphasize the more important things in life which are just as valuable as the hot commodities in the never ending pop machine. She may be able to build up a nice following of people that can derive inspiration from her work.
I for one, thank you for the reminder and hopefully you can keep creating poetic music that will continue to get the world as a whole to remember the most meaningful things in life.

Michael Hansson is at it again! Another tour de force is in full swing with his newest track off the presses. This time around a swaying type intro opens the door to "Lucky Coins" and leads us down the hall to another well crafted production, bringing in another breath of fresh air.
Combining both acoustic and electric, the guitar playing is excellent as usual; there is a nice easy vibe to this song that sits very well with me. It’s a reminder to us all, that in order to keep up with the "rat race", we may be losing touch with who we really are. And sometimes, that is just not worth the price of admission.
There is definitely a great laid back vibe and if I didn't know any better, I could swear Michael has to have some roots in California somewhere. There is always an earthy feel to his writing and he has an uncanny ability to weave the positive into a song, while not bringing out the negative.
The lyrics are well done with warm and rich background vocals. A nice drum and guitar breakdown, as well as a great bass line, meld everything together while helping to carve out the identity of the song.
As we delve into the heart of the matter, a sing along is sure to ensue as a great chorus surely will lead the charge against the lawyers and the bankers. Could this be a battle hymn for the 21st century Robin Hood?
All in all, Michael wraps up another great piece of music that leaves me feeling that the place we are right now, may be the perfect place after all. Thank you for the reminder and the message, we would all be better off if we had a little Michael Hansson streaming out of our speakers a little more often!
